This October we attended the Ski Area COO Summit 2024
We can confidently say that the gathering held on October 4, 2024, at Copper Mountain Resort was a great event that set an exciting tone for the upcoming ski season.
The summit brought together the Chief Operating Officers from five prominent ski areas: Copper Mountain, Breckenridge, Keystone, Arapahoe Basin, and Loveland. It was a crowded event filled with energy and anticipation of the upcoming ski season.
Highlights from the Summit
1. Copper Mountain
- Timberline Express Lift Upgrade
- President and General Manager Dustin Lyman announced the upgrade of the Timberline Express lift from a four-seater to a six-seater.
- This enhancement improves access to the mountain’s west side and is expected to be ready for the late November opening.
- Season Events
- Copper Mountain revealed its plans to kick off the winter season on November 8, with a lineup of events including concerts and athletic competitions.
2. Keystone
- New Leadership
- Shannon Buhler, the newly appointed Vice President and General Manager, shared her vision for the resort.
- With nearly two decades of experience in the ski industry, Buhler aims to elevate the skiing experience at Keystone.
3. Breckenridge
- Snowmaking Plans
- Breckenridge shared their commitment to an early start as they announced plans to begin snowmaking operations in mid-October.
4. Arapahoe Basin and Loveland
- Both resorts have already started snowmaking preparations. Snowmaking is expected to begin soon to give both resorts a head start at opening early.
A Community Gathering
The COO Summit was not just about sharing operational updates; it served as a platform for creating community engagement among local business owners, officials, and residents.
